Golf in Thailand is an experience not to be missed. The caddies mark your score, replace divots, repair pitchmarks and give you the lines. All you have to do is play. Although the weather is hot, we play early in the morning and there is a bar every 3 or 4 holes where you can have a drink and a cold towel.

We fly non-stop from Heathrow to Bangkok by Thai Airways in 11 hours, arriving at 6am and spend the rest of the day acclimatising. We have 3 nights in Bangkok, playing golf on the Wednesday and Friday, leaving a free day for sightseeing. The Royal Palace and Temples really must be seen along with a trip on the river by long-tailed boat. After golf on Friday we go directly to the airport for the short flight to Phuket where we will spend the next 9 nights. The beautiful beach is ideal for a relaxing holiday, hence we will play golf only every other day. This is a wonderful spot for non-golfers as well.

HOTELS

BANGKOK - The Bel-Aire Princess is a beautifully appointed hotel chosen for its location, close to the centre of town and also the expressway giving easy egress to the golf courses. The hotel has a restaurant, coffee shop, swimming pool and gym. Excellent shopping and restaurants are in walking distance and the bars and nightlife of Patpong are just 10 minutes away by Tuk-Tuk.

PHUKET - Diamond Cliff is a 5 star resort hotel where every room has a sea view and balcony. There is a beautiful swimming pool and every water sport imaginable from the beach in front of the hotel. Hotel facilities include a private beach, gym, bars and restaurants including a wonderful buffet around the pool every evening.

GOLF COURSES

Lake Wood - Although not too long, the abundance of water makes it a good test. The clubhouse is simply unbelievable.

Pinehurst - Hosted the Johnny Walker Classic in 1992. 27 holes with plenty of sand and water. Private country club with excellent facilities for non-golfers.

Phuket - A course requiring greater accuracy from the tee. Built around several large lakes the course has many memorable holes. Thai Muang Beach - Although just off the island, this latest addition to Thailand's golf courses should not be missed. Non-golfers can visit the spectacular islands where the James Bond film was shot. A great day out.

Blue Canyon - The host to the Johnny Walker Classic. You can run out of superlatives trying to describe its beauty. Suffice to say that Blue Canyon will provide a fitting end for the last round of our tour.
